Though the capabilities of media streamers and NAS (network-attached storage) devices are not always found in combinations, Digital Cowboy decided it would develop such an electronic, eventually coming up with the Xtreamer Pro, or DC-MC35UL4.

Normally, when buying a media streamer, consumers expect it to play as many media formats as possible, if not all of them.

Needless to say, Digital Cowboy definitely built its new device capable of handling a wide range of file types, but that is just half of the functionality it provides.

In addition to media streaming, the DC-MC35UL4 can actually double as a NAS (network-attached storage device), so that any network-connected displays might access the stored media.

In terms of network storage, the Xtreamer Pro has two hard disk drives and supports DLNA, in addition to featuring a decent UI and DDNS.

As for the media playback aspect, the full list of supported file formats include RMVB, FLV, MKV, DVD, Mpeg, DivX, Mov, WMV9, Xvid, DAT and ASF. Either type of file can be encoded in HD or Full HD quality.

Basically, this unit can be placed anywhere near a video output solutions, a monitor or TV for example, and be connected to it through the HDMI port.

The Xtreamer Pro DC-M35UL4 has not yet become available, but will be sold, in Japan, starting next month, at a MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) of 22,000 Yen.

In the meantime, interested consumers need only stop by the official product page to get the full set of information, provided they are versed in the language.

Finally, according to Engadget, the product is identical to the Xtreamer Pro that was announced in Europe back in February. This solution has the same 3.5-inch dual-hard drive construction and has its own product page as well. End-users may find it here.
