Digital Chocolate, a successful developer with over a dozen titles currently selling in the App Store, has recently announced a new title for iPhone and iPod touch. Johnny Crash is now selling for US$4.99 in the App Store, while Digital Chocolate is set to offer a free version of the game soon, as it has done with every iPhone and iPod touch title released so far.

Johnny Crash for the iPhone and iPod touch is touted as being a painfully addictive title, where players shoot stuntman Johnny Crash out of a cannon and send him soaring through the air crashing into helicopters, UFOs, vultures and even cattle. The game is a remake that has been specifically designed for the iPhone and iPod touch, so that players can use accelerometer-based controls to shoot  Johnny Crash as far as they can.

Levels take place in either Texas or New York City, while they have the ability to unlock new power-ups and objects to crash into. The goal of the title is to crash into as many dangerous items in the sky as possible.

A cool, noteworthy feature of Johnny Crash is that gamers can take snapshots of Johnny while in the air, crashing into objects. These snaps can nab them achievements to put in a scrapbook. A Replay Mode also allows players to brag, and provide proof of their performance.

“Johnny Crash is an insanely fun game to play where the objective is to be destructive and cause as much damage to the main character as possible,” Trip Hawkins, CEO of Digital Chocolate, said. “Luckily, he’s a professional and we do not recommend people try the stunts at home.”

Remember, Johnny Crash is immediately available for $4.99 from the App Store on an iPhone or iPod touch with 2.2 Software Update applied. A free version of the game is scheduled to make its appearance in the App Store as well. The demo will provide a limited number of levels, according to the folks at Digital Chocolate.
