Qt 5.3 Beta, a cross-platform application and UI framework with APIs for C++ programming, is now available for download and testing.

The Digia developers have moved very fast and, only three weeks after the first Alpha release in the new branch, a new development version has been made available.

“Qt 5.3 is mainly focusing on quality and performance improvements, but we also have a nice set of new features available. With Qt 5.3 Beta we are introducing Beta support for Windows Runtime with final support for the platform coming in Qt 5.4. In addition, Qt 5.3 Beta also provides VS2013 binary installers,” reads the official announcement.

The new Qt version comes with some impressive features. For example, a QQuickWidget that provides improved integration between Qt Widgets and Qt Quick has been added, a new Qt WebSockets module has been added and comes with full support for the web socket protocol, the printing support has been drastically improved, and the iOS and Android ports are much better.

A complete list of changes and fixes can be found in the official announcement. Download Qt 5.3 Beta right now from the official website.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
