Kevin Rose, the “kid” who made $60 million in 18 months, claims to have learned that Apple is, indeed, launching an iTV which runs iOS. The device will be priced at $99, Rose notes, corroborating earlier rumors on the subject.

In a recent blog post, the Digg founder digs up a recent rumor saying “Apple will be releasing a revamped/renamed version of their 'Apple TV' set-top box, called 'iTV'.”

Rose seems extremely confident sharing this information, adding that “The box will run the Apple iOS (same as the iPhone/iPad), and be priced around $99.”

Kevin then begins to outline some key features of Apple’s upcoming product, saying that iTV will “change everything.”

And it should, given the supposed benefits. Rose says iTV will have “iOS TV applications”.

“Expect to see an iPhone/Pad like marketplace for television applications,” he writes. “Video sharing/streaming/recording apps, interactive news apps, and of course games.”

“a la carte (app) stations,” he continues, noting that “With Apple's iAds, content producers (eg. ABC/NBC/etc.) can directly monetize and distribute their content.”

Rose believes that this “will eventually destroy the television side of the cable and satellite industry, as your only requirement to access these on-demand stations will be an internet connection.”

Cable TV as we know it will be dead soon, the Digg founder predicts.

iTV will integrate with MobileMe, he adds.

“Imagine getting a notification of new family videos the next time you turn on your TV,” Rose writes.

Finally, Apple will turn the iPad into a remote controller for the iTV, according to Rose.

“From what I hear we should expect to see the iTV launch in September,” Kevin concludes. “Also, keep an eye on GoogleTV - this is going to be a hot space in 2011,” the post ends.
