Instead of starving herself, Lowe actually eats more than every model out there

Legend has it that, to be a model, you have to give up food for good and learn to survive mostly on salad leaves, diet Coke and cigarettes. Daisy Lowe is the exception, revealing in a recent interview that she’s actually eating more than before.

Lowe, one of the few models with curves to go mainstream, says she too ate very little at first, thinking that would help her stay in top model shape and, consequently, still in demand.

In almost no time, though, she learned that she wasn’t losing weight. If anything, it was just the contrary, the Daily Mail informs.

“It’s no secret that tons of models starve themselves to look the way they do. Diets don’t work for me. If I’m told I can’t have something, I just crave it more,” she explains.

Seeing how she lacked the discipline other girls in the industry have, Daisy went out and got herself a personal trainer to help her maintain her figure and stay healthy.

Nicola Addison, the trainer, explained to her that starvation is not a good solution in the long run and that she actually needed to eat more than before.

“Under-eating sends your body into starvation mode so you actually store fat,” Addison says.

“Muscle keeps burning calories for 24 hours after training, whereas if you’re jogging on the treadmill, you basically only burn calories for that hour,” she adds.

After spending some time with Daisy and studying her calorie intake and the calories she was burning daily, Addison developed a customized eating plan for the model.

“It was difficult. If I hadn’t started seeing some benefits after a week, I would have given up,” Daisy says.

Today, she starts the day with an omelet, has vegetarian salad for lunch and smoked salmon for dinner. Snacks include protein bars, nuts and berries – and she’s very happy both with the diet and her figure.
