“90210” star says health must always come first

AnnaLynne McCord is just one of the many gorgeous female stars to have emerged in the spotlight in recent months, yet she’s perhaps the most memorable, not only for her talent, but also for her killer looks. For those not in the know, AnnaLynne is tall, slender and incredibly fit – and it’s not because she starves herself or anything, she reveals in the latest issue of Shape magazine.

According to the star, she’s very disciplined about her food, which makes it so that she never has to diet. That is to say, she tries to focus on eating healthily and splurging only once or twice (tops) each week. Her schedule is incredibly hectic, so this means she rarely has the time to eat her meals at regular hours or to cook, so she makes sure she always has breakfast. When she has some spare time, she cooks too, her favorite being citrus chicken, which is both very easy to make and very light on the calories.

“Because of her crazy-busy schedule – she’s on set at 6 a.m. most days and sometimes not in bed until 1 or 2 the next morning – breakfast is the only meal AnnaLynne eats at a normal time. Usually she has an egg sandwich or French toast – or both if she’s really hungry. She tends to graze the rest of the day, grabbing a turkey and ham sandwich for lunch, a handful of red and green pepper strips with ranch dressing or cereal bars for a snack, and vegetable soup plus fish or chicken for dinner,” Shape writes after sitting down for a chat with the star.

Given that she rarely eats unhealthy food, AnnaLynne was never forced to diet. Of course, the fact that she keeps very active also has something to do with it, she says with a smile. The “90210” star doesn’t have a gym subscription because she sees working out as the only chance she has to hang out with her friends and have some fun at the same time. That’s to say, instead of choosing to lock herself up in a gym for her daily workout, she goes on hikes, jogs or just long walks with her friends.

“With my unpredictable work hours, I rarely have time to exercise and have fun, so my idea of a good workout is to mix them both. I love being outdoors, playing beach tennis, going for runs in the sand, or doing a three-hour hike with my best girlfriend, Mieko. Yeah, we go to Runyon Canyon or some other hiking trail and just walk and talk for hours. It’s our one-on-one time. […] When I first moved to L.A., I didn’t have a lot of money to join a gym or take classes, so I improvised,” the stunning actress further explains.
