Diane’s name became trending on Twitter as the broadcast continued, with many joking that she was having way too many drinks during commercials.
Others said that she looked medicated, which is why she was slurring her words and talking nonsense.
New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter is saying on his Twitter neither of these two applies, insisting Sawyer was simply dead tired, as anyone in her position would have been.
“Diane Sawyer's name is trending. Many people saying she seems drunk on air. Alternative theory: she gets this way when she's really tired,” he wrote.
