Diamond Multimedia, a leading manufacturer of PC graphics cards, sound cards and communications products, launched today a new Radeon HD 4870 X2-based graphics card. The new product has been designed for high-performance and is equipped with a custom liquid cooling system that enables some impressive clock rates. Dubbed Diamond Radeon HD 4870 X2 - XOC H2O edition, the new card is meant to provide gaming users with the very latest in graphics performance.

AMD's newest dual-chip has most certainly changed the high-performance graphics card market, which, until not long ago, was led by the Santa Clara-based NVIDIA. As a result of that, a number of AMD's board partners have already announced their own HD 4870 X2-based graphics cards. Diamond Multimedia is among the first to release one such card equipped with a custom liquid cooling solution.

The new Radeon HD 4870 X2 - XOC H2O is a dual slot graphics monster designed with computer enthusiasts in mind. It is equipped with two overclocked GPUs that have been set to work at an impressive 800MHz. The same 2GB of GDDR5 memory featured on reference cards have been OCed at 1100MHz.

"This adrenaline pumped card on steroids will make our competitors card look like a Ford Pinto station wagon engine" says Director of Product Development & Engineering Mario Gastelum. "Diamond brings the same engineering mentality to its high performance line of Radeon graphics boards that AMG brings to a Mercedes Benz."

Diamond has worked together with Koolance, which recently announced a new liquid cooling solution, to ensure that the card's overclocked GPU and memory will be able to provide the required performance rate for high-end gaming users.

Besides the custom cooling solution and the overclocked GPU and memory, the new card is essentially a standard Radeon HD 4870 X2, and will present its users with features like ATI CrossFireX and ATI Power Play.

The manufacturer hasn't disclosed any details yet regarding the price tag of the card, but it should become available today at SmoothCreations.
