Japanese PC designer Zeus surely knows how important the computers are to their owners, but this might seem a little too much. If Apple's MacBook Air looked expensive, Zeus' notebooks have not only the looks
, but also the price tag itself screaming this.
Zeus' two models of notebooks, called Jupiter and Mars, come to redefine the term of 'conspicuous consumption'. Jupiter comes in a casing that is cast from solid platinum adorned with plenty of real diamonds, since Swarowski's crystals would seem a little... cheap. The other model is called Mars and is not cheaper: the notebook is molded in a solid gold casing. The zodiac-themed laptops come with their diamonds embedded in order to reflect a constellation and the Milky Way.
The glamor continues under the hood. If you care enough about the technology, you will be impressed by a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, 1TB of hard-disk drive storage, a 256MB GeForce 7200GS graphics card, and Blu-ray DVD drive.
Don't dream about them too much, as the impressive notebooks come with an equally impressive price tag. The Jupiter can be yours for as much as $375,000 (darn, that's really much). If you are less picky and gold suits you better than platinum, Zeus recommends the Mars model, that can be yours for a little less: "only" $280,000. It seems that the zodiac theme continues with the astronomic prices.
I also wonder who the metal consultant was, since almighty Zeus screwed things up a little. In my humble opinion, Mars was attributed to Iron rather than gold, since gold was already reclaimed by the mighty Sun. let's hope Zeus is better of a tech than of a mythologist, or otherwise we can claim our warranty in advance.
Oh, I almost forgot, both laptops are shipped with Windows Vista ultimate pre-installed on the manufacturing line, so now you get it why the laptops are so expensive.
