The Mirage egg, the world's most expensive egg, has been revealed just in time for Easter, but you'll need to have lots of cash to spare to afford the luxury ornament. It resembles a cross between a Faberge egg and a Damien Hirst skull, and its value has been estimated at a whopping £5 million, which translates into $8.37/€6.06 million.

The unique gem, created by elite craftsmen, is adorned with more than 1,000 diamonds on the outside, 100 of which are a unique cut. The diamonds alone are worth £1.5 million ($2.5/€1.8 million).

The incredible masterpiece opens up, just like a Faberge egg, to reveal an ornate globe which was hand-crafted in 18-karat gold. A delicate rock crystal dove, perched on a gold olive branch, is placed inside that globe. Both the bird and the olive branch were hand-carved in gold and are symbols of world peace.

The world's most skilled craftsmen across three continents worked on this amazing and breathtakingly expensive ornament. It took them no less than three years to create the unique egg. Manfred Wild, the man who coordinated the group, was in charge of Mirage's design and assembly.

The egg's owner, whose identity has not been revealed, has no intention of selling the piece, but Vashi Dominguez, a well-known Spanish jeweller and diamond entrepreneur, tries to convince him to put it on the market because he believes that, for the right price, they might be able to strike a deal.

“Mirage is, quite simply, one of the finest jewels ever created. The owner has said he has no intention of selling the wondrous piece , but if someone really wants it I can see if we can come to an agreement,” he said, according to Daily Mail.
