There are no plans for Linux port, but Blizzard is not saying no

Diablo III, an action RPG developed by Blizzard Entertainment, is going to launch on May 15th, and people have started to wonder whether a Linux port will ever see the light of day.

The news is not good on the Linux port front. In an interview with AusGamers, Jay Wilson, game director for Diablo III, has managed to dodge answering the question, but in the same time has kept the expectations of Linux Diablo fans low.

“One of the things that... I know we’re Blizzard, so people kind of think we can do anything, but the truth is, we’ve got limited resources just level everybody else, it’s just... our plate’s just a little bigger,” said Jay Wilson.

“So it’s like, well if we had the choice between getting PvP out earlier, or doing a Linux version, well PvP comes out earlier. That’s always what kind of ends up happening.”

He didn’t say no, but he hinted that there were really low changes of a Linux port. On the other hand, Valve will probably launch a Steam Linux version this year, and Electronic Arts is going to Ubuntu Developer Summit. We can't lose hope.
