Diablo III is probably one of the most anticipated games of the last few years, with Blizzard teasing its loyal fans with all sorts of videos, screenshots, and promises of release when it is complete.
After missing launch windows from last year and from the beginning of 2012, Blizzard has finally revealed when its millions of fans will be able to get their hands on Diablo 3: May 15.
At that time, the game will be released for the PC and the Mac platforms both in the form of a retail edition and a digital one that’s sold directly through Blizzard’s own Battle.net online service.
“After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15.”
If you pre-order the game via Battle.net you’ll immediately be able to download an encrypted version of the game that’s going to be unlocked on May 15.
World of Warcraft players who get the Annual Pass for the online game until May 1, will receive Diablo III for free as a token of appreciation.
On May 15 Diablo III will be released as a retail version only in countries like United States, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Digital versions will also be available in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. Russian fans will have to wait even more, as they’ll receive the retail and digital editions of Diablo III on June 7.
