Blizzard is, however, investigating the feature and might include it at a later time

Blizzard has confirmed that the recently revealed Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition for the PlayStation 4 next-gen console won't support the Remote Play feature with the PS Vita handheld, although its team is currently trying out the technology.

Diablo 3 appeared on PC and Mac in 2012, and earlier this year the dungeon crawling RPG was also launched for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox One.

Blizzard is currently working on Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition for the PS4 next-gen console, which will arrive with all sorts of special features and includes the upcoming Reaper of Souls expansion.

One mechanic that won't be implemented in Diablo 3 for the PS4, however, is PS Vita Remote Play feature, which allows games to be streamed to the handheld console.

According to Blizzard's Matthew Berger, who talked with GameSpot, the remote play system won't be implemented "for the moment."

"The Vita is an amazing piece of kit, but the screen is still smaller. And also it has its own aspect ratio – and when you look at Diablo III, there's a lot happening on-screen already. You get surrounded by your enemies, lots of effects flying off in every direction. The inventory can be pretty complicated to navigate sometimes when you have lots of items."

The studio's Julie Humphreys, however, told CVG that the whole team was investigating the potential for Remote Play.

"One of the really cool features that comes built-in with the PS4 is this concept of remote play, so you can stream the gameplay that is happening on the PS4 over to your Vita screen," said Humphreys.

"That is something we are looking into. I would say we are in the earliest stages of looking at that. We want to make sure that it is readable and is a good user experience."

Seeing as how Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition won't appear until 2014 for the PS4, Blizzard could end up implementing Remote Play support at some point in time.
