The upcoming release of the Ultimate Evil Edition is bound to noticeably bump that figure

Diablo 3, the latest installment in Blizzard's action role-playing game franchise, has so far sold over 20 million copies worldwide, according to the latest internal data from Activision Blizzard.

The information comes from the company's latest financial report, pegging the aggregate sales of the title at more than 20 million units. The figure is expected to increase by a rather hefty margin when Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition launches in two weeks.

The end of the calendar year 2013 saw Diablo 3 crossing the 15 million units sold mark, but this year was marked by the release of the Reaper of Souls expansion, which significantly bumped the sales of the product.

With the removal of the real-money auction house as well as the countless improvements to loot drops and replayability, Blizzard has finally gotten the game to where it should have been at launch, and a lot of players who had originally shunned it have found themselves having a good time in the world of Sanctuary.

The Ultimate Evil Edition, due out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 19, will bring the expansion and all its goodies (adventures, rifts and many others) to console players, and to next-gen platforms specifically, for the first time.
