Blizzard has just confirmed that the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls closed beta is underway for the friends and families of the expansion's developers and that the rest of the fans can register their interest in a future beta stage by updating their Battle.net accounts.

Diablo 3 is set to receive the Reaper of Souls expansion next year, introducing a new character class, a new story-based experience, and much more.

As always, Blizzard is organizing different beta tests for the new add-on, and it has just confirmed on Battle.net that Reaper of Souls is in a closed "Friends and Family" beta stage, meaning Blizzard employees, their friends, and their family can try it out, but also many other players.

"With Reaper of Souls, however, we've decided to buck that trend and extend invites to valued media contacts and key members of the Blizzard community. We're also inviting 3,000 of our most active Diablo III players from around the world who've opted in for beta testing."

All these new testers will be sharing their impressions of the closed beta, as there are no Non-Disclosure Agreements.

For those who haven't been invited to the Reaper of Souls beta, they can manifest their interest in the upcoming closed test stage by updating their Battle.net accounts and confirming that they want to try out the new expansion.

"If you’re interested in participating in the Reaper of Souls Closed Beta, please make sure you’ve opted-in for beta testing. You can do this by adjusting your Beta Profile Settings under the Account Management section of your Battle.net Account. Please note that opting in to the Reaper of Souls Closed Beta will not guarantee you access, but it will at least give you a chance at joining our beta test."

The beta stage will start towards the end of the year and includes everything in the Reaper of Souls expansion except for the final boss fight.
