Magic and Rare items are much better than the Legendary ones, apparently

After going through endless errors and different bugs, Diablo 3 players are now complaining about a new issue with the recently launched role-playing game, as the Legendary items are weaker than regular Magic or Rare ones.

Diablo 3 offers different types of items to players who defeat their enemies throughout the campaign. These consist of weapons, armor, and other such things.

Depending on their degree of usefulness, they are either regular, with no other attributes, Magic, which offer some boosts, Rare, which provide bigger boosts to several abilities, and Legendary, which are supposed to be the most powerful and the hardest to get items from the game.

As more and more players start unlocking Legendary items, however, many aren’t impressed with their stats.

As such, quite a few are now complaining on Blizzard’s Diablo 3 forums and on other web outlets about the weak Legendary items and how Rare or Magic loot beats them in terms of damage.

The best example is offered by Diablo3Markets, which presents a Magic sword that offers 1027 damage per second, and one of the best Legendary swords, that can only output 722 DPS. While the Legendary item does provide boosts to different skills and other bonuses, many players just want DPS in order to handle the game on difficulty levels like Hell or Inferno.

Blizzard community manager Bashiok has replied to some of these concerns saying that Legendary items are supposed to bring great stats across the board, not just in terms of DPS.

“Intended design is for an end-game characters to have a mixture of set/legendary, rare, and crafted items. Legendary items are commonly not going to be the best items. It’s a title that denotes a named item, with set stats, and a unique model. It does not mean they’re the best items. Completely random rares will be the best items in the game if they roll up the right stats,” he said.

The Blizzard representative also mentioned that more Legendary items might be added in the future, depending on player feedback.

“As to the “more of them”, Diablo III at launch has more Legendaries than Diablo II had at launch. I’m sure we’ll add more as time goes on, but I do not agree that we don’t already have a lot.”

Based on your experience so far, what do you think about Legendary items versus Rare or Magic ones?
