The team might need to rework some core game features

Josh Mosquera, the leader of the Blizzard team working on Diablo 3, says that development of the game’s much requested Player Versus Player mode is difficult because of the core game mechanics.

He tells PCGamerN that the game in its current state features “lot of control, a lot of AOE, and some of that stuff starts to not necessarily break down, but it starts to fray at the edges when you’re actually now focused on two people, or four people.”

Blizzard wants any new mode to be high quality and that means it will continue to work on PvP until it is satisfied with the result.

The company also has a limited number of staff and cannot devote a big team to the new mode.

At Gamescom, Blizzard has confirmed that it is working on the first expansion for Diablo 3, called Reaper of Souls.
