Diablo 3's patch 1.0.8, besides bringing many improvements to the Legendary items found in the game, will also include new item customization items, as Blizzard is keen on giving players more freedom when it comes to tinkering with their loot.

Diablo 3 came out almost a year ago and, since then, Blizzard has implemented a variety of patches and updates designed to solve problems and add new systems or features.

Now, the studio is working on update 1.0.8 for Diablo 3, which is set to bring quite a few changes to items and how players interact with their loot.

Besides improving the Legendary objects, the new update for Diablo 3 is also going to include various customization options for the items found by players.

"Giving players more control and customization of their item stats is something we talk about a lot in our office. There have been a lot of ideas thrown around here and some great suggestions from the community, but we have not finalized any systems yet," Blizzard's Don Vu wrote on the Battle.net forums.

Quite a few ideas are being explored by Blizzard so check out some of the most important below.

- The ability to change a portion of a particular stat on an item to another stat of your choice - The ability to augment an existing item with a stat bonus of your choice - The ability to create an item with one or several fixed affixes—similar to the Rare recipes introduced in 1.0.7 - We've also discussed adding other types of "socketables" with a wide variety of possible affixes that you can put in your socketed items instead of gems.

Most of these things have different advantages and disadvantages, so Blizzard will take its time before deciding what path it's going to follow with patch 1.0.8.

What's more, Vu also mentioned that the Mystic artisan, which was supposed to be featured in the full game, might still appear at some point in time.
