Nothing is set in stone at the moment

Blizzard is really saying some interesting things regarding its games at this year's Blizzcon, which is now in full swing in Anaheim, California. It seems that  Starcraft II might just be the first game in the series of three which will tell a story from three perspectives and that a new character for Diablo 3 has been revealed. But the big news is that Blizzard might be getting ready to leave the PC and start developing for gaming consoles.

At the moment, there's no real announcement regarding the platforms on which the third installment in the Diablo series will run. Mike Morhaime, the president of Blizzard, made very interesting statements. He said that “Every game we have the discussion about which platforms make the most sense. As Diablo 3 takes shape, I think we'll do an evaluation. I think there is a pretty good argument to be made that that type of game might work very well on consoles. There might be some technical limitations though that we might need to get past”.

Jay Wilson, who is the director of Diablo 3, also said that “We haven't really decided to take the plunge. We've really come to the conclusion that is probably the best fit because the control scheme is actually not that incompatible. So if we were to make that decision, Diablo would be the natural choice”.

Blizzard is well known for its love of the PC as a gaming platform. After all, the PC is the natural medium of real time strategies like the Warcraft series and Starcraft. Since Diablo was launched, consoles have received some interesting role playing games which proved that the genre could work on the Xbox 360 and on the PlayStation 3, so Blizzard would not take a very big gamble if they chose to port their upcoming title.
