Diablo 3 received its latest update earlier this week, in the form of patch 2.1.2, which brought forth a wide array of changes to the game, its mechanics, and its classes. To celebrate the update, two special weeklong bonuses are coming to players across all platforms, buffing the treasure goblins and the legendary drop rate, respectively.

Diablo 3 has been around for quite some time, making its debut on PC and Mac in 2012, and then reaching the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. Last year saw the launch of the Reaper of Souls expansion for PC and Mac, while owners of consoles like the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One got the Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition that also included Reaper of Souls, as well as the base game.

Special bonuses celebrate the latest update

Now, after a new update was rolled out across all platforms, in the form of patch 2.1.2, Blizzard wants to get people back into the dungeon crawling RPG and confirms on its website that two different weeklong bonuses will be available in the game across different platforms.

"We're ringing in the new year with patch 2.1.2. To celebrate the arrival of this content update on PC and console, all treasure-hungry nephalem who log in to Diablo 3 starting this weekend will enjoy a special treat. Pick your platform and receive one of the temporary in-game boosts," the studio explains.

First up, for PC, Mac, PS4, and Xbox One users, there's a special bonus when it comes to treasure goblins. More specifically, every time you meet a treasure goblin, he'll have a buddy alongside him, doubling the potential rewards if you manage to kill them before they teleport to the mythical land of greed.

On the PS3 and Xbox 360, players will get a 100% increase to their chance of finding legendary and set items. This bonus, as always, stacks multiplicatively with other existing bonuses that might be offered by the game's items, shrines, torment difficulty levels, or nephalem rifts.

Some conditions apply to the bonuses

Both bonuses will be turned on tomorrow, Friday, January 16, at 12am PST, and are set to expire on Friday, January 23, at 11:59pm PST, so you might want to plan out your adventures into Diablo 3 sooner rather than later.

Bear in mind that, on the PS3 and Xbox 360, fans must play the Ultimate Evil Edition of Diablo 3, as the original version won't enjoy this bonus.
