Blizzard confirms that it's offering most Diablo 3 owners a special holiday weekend bonus of 100% to their experience gain in order to celebrate the winter festivities from all around the world.

Diablo 3 first launched across the PC and Mac platforms back in early 2012, and then saw its debut onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms in 2013. In 2014, Blizzard rolled out the Reaper of Souls expansion for the PC and Mac versions of Diablo 3, while on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles, it released Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition, which included both the standard game and Reaper of Souls.

Since then, the studio has launched several major updates across most platforms to further improve the dungeon crawling role-playing game, its mechanics, its classes, and its various loot systems, most of them on PC, but also a few on the consoles.

A double XP holiday weekend bonus is now live

Now, Blizzard confirms on its official blog that it's getting into the winter holiday spirit, meaning Diablo 3 owners across most platforms can now enjoy a special buff to their experience gain.

More specifically, those who play Diablo 3 on PC or Mac, or Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will get a 100% boost to their experience acquisition rate. The special double XP promotion can stack with other existing bonuses, like those offered by your gear or other special items and mechanics in the game.

"Get ready to deck the hells with a few extra experience points. All nephalem who log into Diablo III this weekend on any platform will receive a +100% bonus to experience gain. As with previous buffs, the bonus provided will stack multiplicatively with other existing bonuses, including those provided by items, shrines, Pools of Reflection, and Paragon points," Blizzard explains.

The bonus ends on Monday, December 29

The special XP bonus for Diablo 3 is already available inside the game and is set to end on December 29 at 11:59pm PST, so you might want to jump into the dungeon crawling RPG sooner rather than later in order to enjoy the extra experience.

"Whether you're in Sanctuary, Azeroth, Mar Sara, the Nexus, or your local Hearthstone tavern, we hope that you and yours share in the warmth of the season," Blizzard adds. "Happy holidays, heroes, and have a very merry new year!"

Bear in mind that Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition isn't affected by the ongoing PSN and Xbox Live outages, as it can be played offline on the four consoles.
