The development team at Blizzard is announcing that the cross-generational and cross-platform transfers for data in Diablo 3 are now being enabled and will allow gamers to move their game to any platform they like.

The process is live because the company is getting ready for the launch of the Ultimate Evil Edition of the title on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

The official announcement states, "Played Diablo III on the PS3, but want to pick up and slay with Ultimate Evil Edition on the Xbox One? No problem! Previously mowed down some demons on the Xbox 360, but are now looking to cull hordes of renegade angels on the PS4? We've got you covered. The process of transferring your saved data is simple, and we've included a step-by-step guide below to get you started."

Detailed instructions are offered for every possible combination of gaming platforms on which Diablo 3 can be played.

The team at Blizzard also states, "Your pre-order bonuses from original Diablo III will transfer to Ultimate Evil Edition, but only if you’re moving to the same brand (i.e. PS3 > PS4 or Xbox 360 > Xbox One). Once these bonuses are transferred, new heroes on your account will also receive them upon creation."

Pre-order bonuses are not maintained if the player moves from Microsoft's Xbox brand to the PlayStation line from Sony.

The Ultimate Evil Edition of Diablo 3 will be launched on August 19, and the game is designed to run at 1080p on the PlayStation 4 and at 900p on the Xbox One.

The core structure of the game will be unchanged, but Blizzard has said that it will make sure that players are able to easily control the action using a controller and that players will be able to engage in quick local cooperative sessions with unique rewards.

The release will include the core game and the new Reaper of Souls expansion, which adds new areas to explore, more enemies to fight against, a new quest line to follow and a chance to play as the powerful Crusader class.

Recently, rumors have surfaced suggesting that Blizzard might be ready to announce a second full expansion for Diablo 3 during this year's edition of BlizzCon, although the leaks have not offered any sort of details on what kind of new content could be introduced to the hack-and-slash experience.
