The problems might be linked to the new 2.0.4 patch

The development team at Blizzard announces that it is currently investigating reports that many Diablo 3 players are affected by disconnection problems with their games and will issue a solution as soon as possible.

An official Twitter message from the company explains that an update will be offered for the community once the studio has more information.

It's unclear how many of the dedicated Diablo 3 players are currently affected but reports on social media seem to suggest that servers in North America, Europe and Oceania are having problems at the moment.

It's unclear whether the connection trouble affecting the game are linked in any way to the recently deployed 2.0.4 patch or if they have a link to the network infrastructure that Blizzard is using.

The company will probably have a clearer picture and a solution in 24 hours because it cannot allow any problems to affect Diablo 3 as close to the launch date of the Reaper of Souls expansion, when many players are returning to the title.

Since it was launched the new content has managed to attract 2.7 million buyers.

Blizzard has not said whether it plans to deliver any other expansions for Diablo 3 but support via patches is a long term commitment from the studio.
