Season 5 finale of “Dexter” will be a “doozy” just like finale of season 4
Season 5 finale of “Dexter” will be a “doozy” just like finale of season 4

Season 5 of Showtime’s critically acclaimed series “Dexter” is drawing to an end, which, understandably, is generating lots of questions with fans regarding the finale. Will it match season 4 finale when there’s no Rita to kill off now?

According to a spoiler-y piece on E! Online, it certainly will. Buzz has it that writers and producers on the show have an ending that will rock fans’ world: because they already set a precedent with Rita’s death and, obviously, because they can.

A little birdie told me they have another ‘doozy’ planned for the end of the season—the kind that will have everyone talking, á la the bathtub,” E! writes.

Fans need no explaining: the spoiler refers to season 4 finale, where Dexter walked in to find wife Rita killed in their bathroom in the tub, presumably by Trinity. It was deemed at the time the bloodiest, most violent and unexpected death ever on TV.

“My source told me it’s a good payoff and then I couldn’t really hear anything above the buzzing in my ears. Be forewarned,” E! also writes, careful not to spill ALL the beans on the shocking ending.

Much of the shock factor for the finale will presumably be brought by Julia Stiles’ Lumen, who is now Dexter’s aide and partner in crime (literally). Right now, there’s no word on whether Lumen will return for season 6.

“Sorry, but it’s just too soon to reveal something that juicy. If we told you that, it may ruin the rest of the season...” E! says, very cryptically.

“What we can say is that Julia Stiles is in every one of the season’s remaining episodes and plays a pivotal part in Dexter’s life up until the very end,” the report further reads.

Come to think of it, there might not be a season 6 at all, judging by how Showtime is yet to announce the show has been picked up for a new season.

Fans needn’t worry though: because of its strong ratings, “Dexter” will most likely return for another year. And, when it does, E! has learned, it will have an entirely different pace and rhythm than it has now.

“Season six would definitely not look like it did this year because the events are all different,” showrunner Chip Johannesson explains for the same media outlet.
