The clock is ticking for Showtime’s “Dexter” hit TV series, with season 8, the last one, now airing. Even though this is the end, fans should not lose hope because they might get to see their favorite serial killer, in some form or another, again.

At least, that’s what Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins would have us believe, EW reports.

“Pointing to the two-year development deal he just made with Dexter showrunner Scott Buck, Nevins said with a smile, ‘draw your own conclusions’,” EW writes of what went down at a recent press call.

Because of the hysteria his statement caused, Nevins was forced to offer explanations later. And that he did, making sure he didn’t commit in any way, either in the positive or the negative.

“We are really not dealing with it at all until we are through with this season and maybe a while thereafter. There are always things that can be done,” he said, adding that, regardless of the future of a “Dexter” spinoff, he still wanted to be in business with Scott Buck.

Those thinking that Nevins didn’t really make any startling revelation, a word of advice: in this industry, a vague answer like the one above is definitely better than a “no.” It also means that at least the option is being considered.
