“Remember the Monsters?” sets another record for the network, is a winner

Whether you liked the last episode of the eighth and final season of “Dexter” or not, you won’t be able to deny the fact that it was a winner for Showtime, setting a brand new record for the network as its most watched ever.

Remember the Monsters?” aired on Sunday night, bringing in a record audience of 2.8 million viewers, AceShowbiz reports.

“When repeat airings are counted, the farewell episode posted a total of 3.3 million viewers. It's up from the 3.2 million which tuned in to the season 8 premiere in June. The last episode of the drama series, thus, becomes the most-watched original episode ever in Showtime's history,” the e-zine continues.

So, this probably explains the many angry voices now shouting online about how “Dexter Morgan deserved better” because, the more people tune in for something, the bigger the odds are more will hate it.

In the end, though, chances are Showtime will only be looking at the numbers. “Dexter” was a good run and, perhaps just as important, it went out with a bang, at least ratings-wise.

I can’t imagine a network executive crying right now that fans hated the ending.
