Just recently we found out that a company has released a small-sized Atom-based computer system that can handle 1080p content with the help of a hardware-based HD decoder. It now appears that yet another company is ready to provide computer users worldwide with a small-sized thin client that leverages Intel's Atom processor and can support dual
independent high-definition digital displays and render videos on the web or remotely. Dubbed TC5, the new thin client PC has just been introduced by Devon IT.

“The TC5, operating with Intel's powerful, newly-designed processor, sets the thin client computing industry standard with high-performance Internet and application capabilities that rival the user experiences delivered by traditional desktop PCs,” says Joe Makoid, president of Devon IT. “Devon IT's goals have always been anchored in driving innovation to develop high-performance products that use less energy and reduce IT costs across-the-board. We are excited to work with our industry partners, including Citrix, IBM and VMware, to deliver the enterprise-wide benefits of the TC5 to customers needing high-performance, low-cost IT solutions.”

Devon IT's TC 5 is based on Intel's successful Atom N270 processor, featuring 1.6GHz core speed, up to 2GB of RAM memory and Intel's integrated 945GSE graphics media accelerator. The system also boasts 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 DVI connectors, audio-in and audio-out and a Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port. It comes with a Microsoft XP embedded solution or can be offered with a Linux-based Devon Terminal operating system. Additionally, customers can opt for an internal wireless solution.

According to the company, the TC5 consumes just 9-12 watts of power and can be ordered through IBM using an IBM part number. Unfortunately, the company hasn't revealed any pricing details.
