Devil May Cry is a videogame developed by Capcom Production Studio 4 and published by Capcom Ltd. The game was released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony and debuted in August 2001. It can be classed as an action title played from a third person perspective, incorporating some fighting, horror and sci fi elements in gameplay.
Devil May Cry is the first game in the multi million dollar selling series and establishes the elements that will become central to all the releases. It tells the story of Dante, a seemingly normal guy who possesses a lot of demonic strength hidden deep within him. As he begins to realize that no other than the Devil himself is gearing up to take over mankind, he must draw on the heritage of his blood to battle the demons and make himself a hero.
It helps that Dante has been investigating super natural occurrences for a living and that he is a superb fighter, equally skilled with a huge sword and with his signature twin pistols, Ebony and Ivory. As the game progresses and as the fights get tougher, Dante will begin to use even more powerful weapons, some of them channeling demonic energy themselves.
The level of violence in the game is high and this, coupled with the quick paced action sequences, made it a best seller on which Capcom capitalized by launching sequels, the most recent being Devil May Cry 4.
GAMEPLAY HINTS
Defeat Nelo Angelo
Defeating Nelo Angelo the first time is easy if you use Stinger well (even more so with level 2 Stinger). Do not use your pistols, as they cause very little damage and will most likely provoke him into shooting one of his energy shots at you. Instead, start slashing at him. He will block most of them. Stop as soon as he pulls his sword to his side and hesitates. Immediately jump backwards to avoid his wide counter-swing and give him a Stinger. You can also use a Stinger after he finishes one of his combos. Save your Devil Trigger until he is winded; he will lower his sword and pant. When he does so, activate your Devil Trigger and let him have it. As soon as he regains balance, jump away and turn off your Devil mode. Even though you could continue slashing, he will most likely block them and give you a counterattack. If done correctly, he can be defeated without taking a single hit.
