Devil May Cry is a videogame developed by Capcom Production Studio 4 and published by Capcom Ltd. The game was released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony and debuted in August 2001. It can be classed as an action title played from a third person perspective, incorporating some fighting, horror and sci fi elements in gameplay.
Devil May Cry is the first game in the multi million dollar selling series and establishes the elements that will become central to all the releases. It tells the story of Dante, a seemingly normal guy who possesses a lot of demonic strength hidden deep within him. As he begins to realize that no other than the Devil himself is gearing up to take over mankind, he must draw on the heritage of his blood to battle the demons and make himself a hero.
It helps that Dante has been investigating super natural occurrences for a living and that he is a superb fighter, equally skilled with a huge sword and with his signature twin pistols, Ebony and Ivory. As the game progresses and as the fights get tougher, Dante will begin to use even more powerful weapons, some of them channeling demonic energy themselves.
The level of violence in the game is high and this, coupled with the quick paced action sequences, made it a best seller on which Capcom capitalized by launching sequels, the most recent being Devil May Cry 4.

Defeating Nightmare
Do not attack the metal plate which transforms him. Instead, let him pull you down into his special underworld. After defeating the mini-Boss in his underworld, go back to the surface by stepping through the portal. When you come back, it will destroy about one quarter of his health. Then, when you hit the metal plate to transform him, stand directly in front of Nightmare. Once the energy ball on top of him appears, he will begin to shoot a beam of ice at you. Jump on top of him and attack the ball repeatedly. Continue this until you defeat him.
