Yes PlayStation 3 owners and Devil May Cry fanatics threatening to boycott Capcom for going multiplatform with the series, according to an official report Devil May Cry 4 will become available as a free demo in early 2008, both for Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Whether PlayStation console owners like it or not, it seems that Capcom has gone with a two-platform release for DMC 4 after all.

Devil May Cry 4 features the same Gothic-inspired supernatural setting which fans have gotten used to over the years, while a new protagonist, Nero, and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer are introduced. Basically, the demo includes memorable sections from the full game, chosen especially to showcase various locales. In the demo, you'll be able to familiarize yourself with Nero's powers, such as the ability to slam creatures to the ground, cover great distances in a single bound or even grab enemies while on the ground or in the air and pull them towards Nero to continue a combo.

As for the Exceed system within the game, it allows Nero to "rev up" his sword "as if it were a motorcycle throttle" to unleash devastating attacks, as Capcom themselves put it. Of course, these techniques will need to be mastered before players meet Berial at the end of the demo.

And, if you're the hardcore gamer type who has embraced the HD era already, Devil May Cry 4 delivers its intense action at a constant 60 frames per second at 720P resolution, all this if you own an HD monitor, of course.

So remember, the free demo of Devil May Cry 4 will become available in early 2008 for owners of Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360, as a downloadable via PlayStation Store and Xbox LIVE Marketplace respectively. The game has been rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB).
