Development Process Really Changed Dark Souls

Dark Souls is a sequel to a tough game that promises even more punishment for gamers and at least one of the developers says that the game changed very much during the development process.

Speaking to Gamasutra Kei Hirono, who is the producer working on the game at Namco Bandai, stated, “It's really nothing like we pictured it at the start. There were concepts that went unimplemented because, especially with the online component, you can't really tell how some of it works until it's actually in motion.”

He added, “It was really a difficult project because it kept on changing and evolving as we were developing it. A lot got attached to it, so it's really a much greater project than we first conceived. I'm just glad it all came together.”

Dark Souls is designed to appeal to the hardcore gamer who does not mind suffering quite a few failures as long as they teach him game concepts that allow him to create a strategy to get past his challenges.
