The company behind the Mac operating system has notified select members of its Premier and Select developer programs of a new Apple Developer Forums Beta. The platform will allow developers to share their ideas and experiences with each other, discussing the features of the unreleased Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, AppleInsider reports.

The Apple-focused site goes to outline that the initiative is “a significant shift from its existing, highly restrictive policy that has in general prohibited all of its developers from talking about the features and technologies related to its unannounced operating system, even to other developers bound to the same Non-Disclosure Agreements.” Apple has also lifted some of the restrictions regarding iPhone development in recent months. And here is the message going out to select developers:

Apple Developer Forums Beta

Join the discussions on Mac OS X Snow Leopard

We are pleased to announce that the Apple Developer Forums now include discussion threads for Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

Currently in beta, the Apple Developer Forums provide you with a collaborative environment to post Mac OS X Snow Leopard development topics and questions for an open discussion with other Mac developers and Apple engineers.

ADC Premier and Select Members can access the Apple Developer Forums from the Snow Leopard section of the Mac Dev Center.

The aforementioned news source notes that the forums will not be available to the public, nor to student developers. Only la creme de la creme of Apple developers will be able to join discussions on Snow Leopard development.

Mac OS X 10.6 a.k.a Snow Leopard is the upcoming version of the popular OS, which Apple is set out to unveil for the second time at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. The much improved OS is expected to launch publicly two months after the WWDC '09 showcase.
