There is no line of apps waiting to be published

Ubuntu Touch has quite a few interesting features that you won't find on another platform, but one of those features really stands out. It's actually the publishing speed of a new app in the Ubuntu Store, which is probably under a minute.

One of the main things that preoccupied the Ubuntu devs right from the start was the security of the platform and that meant giving them a lot of freedom, which is actually quite unusual. On Android, iOS, or Windows Phone, the devs are not given free reign, but this isn't an issue for Ubuntu because the system is built with security in mind.

That means that developers can't really interfere with the operating system, if they do something wrong (intentionally or not) and all apps are sandboxed. This also means that the submitting process to the Ubuntu Store is pretty quick and that there is no need to wait for days until a new app is published or updated. It's all done in a matter of seconds.

Developers will feel right at home

The fact that the Ubuntu platform will allow developers to have full control over their apps is a big step forward, especially if they are used to publish their work for other OSes. There is even a comprehensive Ubuntu SDK in place that really makes a difference for the devs who want to develop or port apps.

One of the reasons the publishing procedure is so quick is the fact that Ubuntu devs have put in place a series of automated tests that make sure everything is OK before the app reaches the store. Here is just one example.

"I still can't get over how awesome it is to have automated reviews in the Ubuntu click store. I uploaded a new release, and by the time I had written a G+ comment announcing it, the new release has been reviewed, approved, and published! " wrote Michael Hall, developer and Ubuntu Community manager.

The first phone with Ubuntu Touch, from Bq, is scheduled to arrive in a couple of days, so it's likely that we'll see many more apps being published in the coming months.
