A comment from one of the leading developers working on the JRPG Final Fantasy XIII-2 suggests that the rumors about Lightning-based downloadable content for the game might have a lot of truth in them.

Yoshinori Kitase, the producer working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, has told the Square Enix blog that, “There is more DLC items coming that we’ll reveal when the time is appropriate.”

He added, “We’re not just planning boss battles or costumes but also planning episodic DLC items that will hopefully expand on the universe and the gameplay for Final Fantasy XIII-2.”

The Japanese magazine Famitsu has stated that the development team is preparing to launch a number of secret stories via DLC, allowing gamers to battle Lightning, the main character of the initial game in the series, and then recruit her for a small narrative section built around her.

Square Enix is also set to launch other boss battle based DLC packages in the future.
