iOS 4.2 Beta 3 is now available from the iOS Dev Center, Apple tells those enrolled with its iPhone Developer program. Accompanied by an updated iOS SDK 4.2 Beta 3, the build is reportedly labeled 8C5115c, and delivers a substantial amount of changes, according to people familiar with the software.

Tuesday’s release reportedly includes several significant changes. AppleInsider cites people familiar with this build as saying that iOS 4.2 Beta 3 comes with an updated version of the modem firmware.

Some AirPlay features spotted in previous builds are now missing, while the AirPlay button has disappeared from the Photos, Videos, and YouTube apps on iPad, the report says.

AirPrint has bugs, developers say. “When printing from an iPhone, the image sometimes prints as just the size of the iPhone's screen, not the original image size,” AppleInsider has been told.

Smaller additions include new ringtones for receiving text messages on the iPhone 4 ("Calypso," "Choo Choo," "Sherwood Forest," and "Tiptoes." to name a few), and a host of new wallpapers for the iPad.

Also noteworthy, the recovery screen (Connect to iTunes) now uses the new iTunes 10 icon.

The logo has been the centerpiece of a hot debate here on Softpedia as to why Apple went with such a simplistic, Windows-like design, or why the company changed the icon in the first place.

Finally, a new iTunes 10.1 beta arrived in tandem with the new IOS and SDK 4.2 betas. It reportedly continues to support printing.

iOS 4.2 Beta 3 arrives precisely two weeks after the second beta was seeded to iOS developers, and four weeks after the first beta was handed to those enrolled with Apple’s program, which suggests the company is following a two week cycle on iOS 4.2 build releases.

Without a doubt, more changes are to be spotted in the new iOS 4.2 beta as developers bury their heads in it.
