Developer Cody Cooper was playing around with Apple’s iOS 6 beta when he stumbled upon references to the new Maps application with hints at the possibility of integration with Macs.Cody
reportedly found some interesting code strings in the file altitude_manifest.xml, where “there is a reference to a set of Intel based graphics chipsets for which certain features like Shading are disabled.”
Apple is known to be delivering a new Maps application with 3D Flyover views in iOS 6. Integration with OS X shouldn’t bee too far fetched, considering how many services adopted by Apple now work cross-platform within its ecosystem. iCloud, Notification Center, Game Center, and social networking are just a few examples.
Of course, there’s always the possibility of Apple integrating Maps for the sake of offering some location-based features inside the company’s photography apps, like iPhoto and Aperture, on Mac OS X.
