It’s official: as soon as Apple posted the iOS 4.1 IPSW update / restore file for new generation Apple TVs, the iPhone Dev Team wasted no time and used SHAtter to decrypt its keys, according a blog update.

Reportedly, it was iPhone developer chpwn who first noticed the firmware update on Apple’s servers, and posted a link to it on Twitter.

Softpedia readers can download the respective file using the link below.

The Dev Team quickly grabbed it to treat it to the SHAtter exploit by @pod2g. Sure enough, they found that it jailbreakable.

“It’s looking like SHAtter is going to be the gift that keeps on giving. Even though the new AppleTV isn’t yet in people’s homes, the firmware is available on Apple’s normal public distribution servers and SHAtter has been used to decrypt its keys!”, the team writes.

The Team goes to post filesystem-key-stuff, adding: “If you’re familiar with vfdecrypt, you can use that key to decrypt the image and mount it.”

According to the infamous team of hackers, those who do so are also free to use their blog’s comments section to discuss what they discover.

Last, but not least, the iPhone Dev Team credits @pod2g for the SHAtter exploit.
