iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd has tweeted an “official iPhone unlock statement” this week, signaling that the solution for breaking Apple’s newest firmware will only be released after the iOS 4.3 beta is over.

Arguably the most vocal of all iPhone Dev Team members, MuscleNerd has been actively feeding his Twitter account for the past few days with information regarding their progress on the newest jailbreak / unlock solutions.

Picked up by Cultofmac.com, the hacker’s latest updates reportedly indicate that the Dev Team is waiting to deploy a brand new exploit that Apple is currently unaware of.

As such, it would be foolish to release the hack now, with Apple actively testing iOS 4.3 internally, MuscleNerd claims.

In other words, the iPhone maker could patch the exploit ahead of the iOS 4.3 public release, thwarting the Team’s efforts before the tools can even be used by the iOS community.

But, as The Cult points out, no one is better at the cat-and-mouse game than the infamous iPhone Dev Team, which plans to release jailbreak and unlock solutions for the newest devices, including the unreleased Verizon (CDMA) iPhone.

However, MuscleNerd outlines that this will not happen until only after the official iOS 4.2.5 / 4.3 IPSWs are released to the general population.

Current iOS 4.2.1 hacking tools still provide what is referred to as a “tethered jailbreak,” which basically means that each time your device loses battery power or needs to be rebooted, you must attach it to a PC or Mac to boot into the jailbroken state.

This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that you should hack your Apple device.

Using hacks may render your device unusable, or may reduce the quality of your experience employing the respective device.

If you choose to download and install jailbreak tools, you will do so at your own risk. Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch / iPad / Apple TV may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.
