Developers attempting to jailbreak the latest iOS beta from Apple will be able to do so using the latest version of redsn0w and a 5.0 IPSW file, according to Musclenerd, of the iPhone Dev Team.

Musclenerd tweeted a few hours ago that “Devs trying today's 5.0.1 beta can JB with existing redsn0w.” The hacker advises those with access to the new bits from Cupertino to select the 5.0 IPSW through GUI or command line.

iOS 5.0.1 is currently in beta testing, with a final release expected to occur in a few weeks, according to an Apple spokesperson.

The software update may deliver a couple of new features, but its primary focus is to address widespread battery drain issues on iPhone 4S devices, as well as a security flaw on iPad 2 tablets.
