The Game Developers Conference 2015, the large event that's set to take place in March, will also be the place where Eidos Montreal and AMD are going to showcase the TressFX 3.0 hair simulation solution that's going to be a part of the upcoming Deus Ex Universe projects.

The Deus Ex series has been around for quite some time, and in recent years developer Eidos Montreal managed to breathe fresh life into the series through Human Revolution. Afterwards, new projects spawned but developer Eidos Montreal was reluctant to start working on another full game.

The studio established that it was going forward with a new initiative last year, called Deus Ex Universe, which is going to act as an umbrella for the new games and experiences in the series. It also mentioned that a new Deus Ex game was coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

GDC 2015 will see the reveal of the first Deus Ex Universe project

Now, it seems that the first game in the initiative will be presented at GDC 2015, as on the official website a special session has been revealed that involves learning about AMD's TressFX 3.0 hair simulation system through its implementation in the Deus Ex Universe projects.

"In this talk, engineers from Eidos and AMD detail the TressFX 3.0 solution used in Dawn Engine which will be the cornerstone to the development of the Deus Ex Universe projects at the studio. We show how Eidos graphics engineers built upon TressFX to break new grounds and deliver a realistic and scalable hair solution in the Dawn Engine for PC and consoles," the session's description reads.

According to the presentation, developers will be able to see how TressFX 3.0 deals with collisions, shape preservation, stretching, and wind effects, as well as how it interacts with traditional hair meshes, anti-aliasing, or translucency.

TressFX already impressed quite a lot of people when it was included in the Tomb Raider reboot, and it seems that the system's addition to the new Deus Ex game might hint at a possible female protagonist, or at least a male with longer hair than that of Human Revolution's Adam Jensen.
