Deus Ex: The Fall, the new mobile-only installment in the long running series made by Eidos Montreal, almost had a female protagonist, in the form of Anna Kelso.

She is one of the allies of actual hero Bex Saxon, according to a new video posted by the developer.

Deus Ex: The Fall was rumored to be the next video game installment in the series but, while it's an actual game, it's exclusive to mobile platforms like the iOS or Android.

The game isn't out, but quite a few details are known, like the fact it stars a new hero, Bex Saxon.

According to a video with the game's Director, Jean-Francois Dugas, The Fall almost had a female protagonist, in the form of Anna Kelso.

Sadly, because the assets used by the studio had animations done for a male protagonist, namely Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Adam Jensen, the developer decided to stick with a male hero, as time was of the essence.

The Fall begins a new story in the Deus Ex universe, one that will take place only on mobile devices.
