Feral Interactive has confirmed plans to bring Deus Ex: Human Revolution to the Mac this winter. The studio is unclear whether the release will occur before New Year’s eve or afterwards, nor can they say anything about the system requirements and pricing for now.

Developed by Eidos-Montreal and published by Square Enix for consoles and Windows, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the prequel to the original Deus Ex game launched in 2000.

“Deus Ex: Human Revolution presents the player with truly meaningful decisions in a unique and captivating game world.” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “The degree of freedom it offers is extraordinary.”

Feral Interactive, a publishing company founded in 1999 that publishes games and other software that doesn’t fit in with the release programs of high-profile publishers, has been chosen to bring Deus Ex: Human Revolution to the Mac.

Feral’s entire business revolves around publishing Macintosh games in partnership with other publishers, such as Electronic Arts, Eidos, Lionhead Studios and UbiSoft.

“We are delighted to partner with Feral, a leading expert in development for the Mac platform, to bring the acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution to Mac players,” said Stephane D’Astous, general manager of Eidos-Montreal.

“The game presents a powerful vision of a dystopian future, and we’re excited that gamers will now be able to experience it on the Mac,” added D’Astous.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is set in 2007 “in a world where amoral corporations market biomechanical modifications that blur the boundary between man and machine,” according to the game’s official description.

Players take the role of a former SWAT commander named Adam Jensen who, after a terrorist attack on the biotech company where he works as security chief, has been forced to undergo cybernetic augmentations.

Players explore the potential of Adam’s augmented body as they try to cope with every situation the game throws at them.

New augmentations or upgrades to the existing ones will be available as the game progresses, with the player being tasked to manipulate Adam’s body into their perfect machine, according to the makers of the game.

Feral promises to come back with updates on pricing, system requirements and an exact launch date later this year.
