Deus Ex: Human Defiance, the movie that’s designed to adapt the story of Human Revolution, is still in development, but at the moment, the script creators are re-writing it to make sure that it captures the events of the game, while also evoking the wider context of the franchise.

IGN quotes Scott Derrickson, the director of the project, as saying that the effort to create the movie is ongoing and that he will share more information on it as it becomes available.

He explains that, “The script that we wrote was clearly based on the Human Revolution game. We worked hard with the game company to get aspects of the game that we knew would be important to fans of the game and the world and all of that.”

Apparently, the director believes that main character Adam Jensen is very interesting and does not plan to make any big changes to his personality.

At the same time, it seems that Deus Ex: Human Defiance is designed to include some hints about the future of the video game series.

Scott Derrickson adds, “The upcoming game, the progression of games, there’s a little bit that filtered into the script, but not a lot.”

Deus Ex: Human Defiance does not have a launch window at the moment and no actors have been mentioned yet for the main roles.

CBS Films announced that it was working on the project in 2012 and the initial statement from the studio explained that it would avoid the problems that had traditionally troubled projects that adapted video games to the movie format.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution successfully rebooted the classic series and managed to attract a solid audience with its interesting story, which focuses on the power of augmentation and on the dangers of tech evolution.

The core gameplay of the title was also solid, although the initial release had some problems associated with the boss battles.

In 2013, the developers also delivered a mobile title called The Fall, which is at the moment also offered on the PC and on home console.

Square Enix, the publisher that owns the game universe, has not yet announced a new title in the series, but it has said that it plans to create a more connected concept, which includes a variety of media properties and will be known as Universe.

An official reveal for the next core Deus Ex title might be made during E3 2014, probably associated with next-gen consoles.
