When rumors regarding Detroit's intent to build a RoboCop statue appeared, people were quite reluctant to the news, but the team behind the project is getting one step closer to the final goal.

The city is planning on building a 10-feet (3 meters) tall bronze monument for the half-human, half-robot officer from the 1987 movie. The remake of the RoboCop movie scheduled for next month manages to bring even more publicity to Detroit's new addition.

The development of the molds needed in order to cast the bronze version of the human-robot will begin soon enough. The team working on the project will make sand molds of about 15 large foam pieces, each about 2 to 4 feet in length (about 1 meter), notes Freep.

The mold will hold amazing details capturing RoboCop's teeth and even grooves in the metallic armor. The team managed to raise more than $60,000 (€44,200) with their Kickstarter campaign and are planning to finalize the project by fall.
