The lucky owner will have a few taxes to pay as well

A former Detroit resident who now lives overseas has put out an announcement that he’s trading his former residence for an iPhone 6. He instructed his agent to spread the news.

The agent has talked to Fox 2 and confirmed that the landlord’s intentions are indeed to get rid of the house as soon as possible.

An iPhone 6 or an iPad

The homeowner reportedly said he’d take either one of the two iPhone 6 models, though his agent believes he prefers the iPhone 6 Plus (not surprisingly). However, he’s so bent on getting rid of the property that he’ll even take an iPad. Basically he just wants a hot iDevice. Hot as in awesome, not stolen.

“It's a real listing,” says realtor Larry Else. “My client is overseas and he told me he would be willing to trade the properly for an iPhone 6.”

The 3-bedroom residence is not exactly a manor, and pretty much every passer-by interviewed by Fox was astonished that the thing hadn’t been torn down already. One person, however, showed quite a bit of interest in the exchange.

Not as cheap as you might think

Don’t rush to grab your phone and call the owner before you make sure that you’re prepared to cough up some tax money. A few thousands at least. But even so, if the house can indeed be refurbished and doesn’t require any demolitions, the deal seems to be an attractive one.

Plus, it has a finished basement. Something that might attract buyers with basement-type hobbies. Like carpentry and painting.

Not an uncommon request

You’d think that a person who is willing to give up a house for an iPhone is out of their mind. Not in this case. The owner of the bungalow simply doesn’t want the hassle, and he thought it wouldn’t hurt if he at least got something for it. After initially estimating the property at $5,000 / €4,000, he ended up dropping the price to just $3,000 / €2370.

When he noticed there were still no buyers in sight, he ultimately thought to use the iPhone exchange as a gimmick to provide some incentive. Not surprisingly, he made the news. We’d be surprised if the house was still up for sale tomorrow.

And if you still think this guy is crazy, just remember that there have been cases where people sold organs to get their hands on fancy iDevices.

Anyone here wielding a brand new iPhone 6 looking for a place to throw parties?
