The 28 Greenpeace activists arrested by Russian authorities on September 18 will soon be taken to a detention center in St. Petersburg.

The British journalist and the videographer who were also arrested when the organization's ship, the Arctic Sunrise, was raided will share their fate.

By the looks of it, the activists, who have all been charged with piracy after two of them boarded an oil rig owned and operated by oil company Gazprom, will remain at the detention center until their trial starts, RT tells us.

As previously reported, the activists are currently imprisoned in Murmansk.

Neither other Greenpeace members nor the organization's lawyer has any idea why Russian authorities have decided that they needed to be transferred to St. Petersburg.

“The detainees shouldn’t be in jail at all,” Greenpeace International Executive Director, Kumi Naidoo, wished to stress.

Hopefully, more news on the topic will shortly follow.
