It’s been months since anything was heard of Rihanna’s plans for a new album, but something was inevitably bound to come up. Although it’s nothing official yet, sources from Def Jam are telling Rihanna Daily that fans will literally be blown away by the upcoming album, although they offer close to nothing else in terms of details.

As of now, nothing is known of the album in question, on which Rihanna reportedly started work a while back, before the Chris Brown incident. Off the record, the material will literally blow fans away, including not only a brand new sound but also several collaborations meant to make it more marketable and, at the same time, to push Rihanna into the category of major established pop stars.

Consequently, these collaborators are said to include Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Soulja Boy, Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams to name just a few, all of whom will be featured in one capacity or another on the upcoming album. Even more, the material will also approach a new, edgier sound than the one Rihanna adopted until now, with sources saying there will be more rock and pop notes on this material than on the ones before it.

The same sources also reveal that Rihanna has been involved in the process from beginning to end, really pouring her heart in it so that it comes out just right. The singer is said to have been very “particular about song choice” for the album, working hard on the lyrics and melodies of each one so that the finished product turns out to be of the type that will “mark the spirits forever,” as the sources describe it.

The name of the album has not yet been revealed – and neither will it be made public “until the last moment.” Since last time fans got to hear anything related to Rihanna’s music, it was about her recording a duet with Chris Brown in the aftermath of the February assault, sources reveal that a duet was to be included on her upcoming album. Unfortunately, it had to be scraped following the February incident since it was deemed no longer appropriate.

Do keep an eye on this space for more details on Rihanna’s upcoming album, especially since “in brief, this album will be the best of Rihanna and certainly the best of all the league of the artists produced by DEF Jam,” as insiders describe it.
