14 DAY TRIAL // The development team at Bungie is delivering yet another title update for Destiny, its social shooter, in order to make sure that the experience is in solid shape as the brand new The Dark Below expansion is delivered on all platforms.
The official announcement notes that the new content will be offered for players on December 9 at 1 AM Pacific Time and that the new update is designed to make some very necessary changes right before the expansion goes live.
Bungie is not willing to offer a lot of details on the changes that it is making and only explains that a number of bug fixes are applied to the environments and the raids added in The Dark Below.
At the same time, the challenge levels for the Daily Heroic Story, the Weekly Heroic Strike and the Weekly Nightfall Strike are increased.
The studio adds, "Players who need to level up to successfully complete featured missions at new difficulty levels will find what they need to upgrade their characters in the Tower. As part of Expansion I, vendors will be equipped with more powerful weapons and gear. These items will be available for acquisition by all players."
The change seems to be based on feedback coming from the community, which has long been asking for better items to be introduced in order to make it somewhat easier to tackle the most difficult end game content.
Destiny's second expansion is already being planned
The Dark Below might not be launched yet, but Bungie has already set aside a small team which is exploring the kind of content that will be introduced in the second full expansion, which at the moment is set to arrive in the summer of 2015.
Destiny is an entirely new franchise and Activision has already said that it plans to support it in the long term, although it is unclear whether the much talked about ten-year plan can become reality via both expansions and new games.
The developers have already said that they are planning to re-introduce the Iron Banner Player versus Player event on December 16, allowing gamers to pick up a range of new items.
The Dark Below will add some new environments to explore, more enemies to battle and the new final raid is set to allow players to face Crota, a powerful being that is getting ready to attack Earth.
