Gamers can ignore them if they are pursuing solo play

The Bungie team working on Destiny says that it will pepper the game with Live Events accessible to all players, designed to focus on team work and to showcase a number of interesting challenges.

Eric Osborne, a senior writer and community manager, tells VG247 that “There’ll be a range of things you can do in the world, and the public event we’re demonstrating is the Devil Walker – the big tank that drops into the world – this big, grandiose cinematic moment.”

Gamers who are working towards a clear goal can choose to ignore a Live Event, but the team wants as many of them to engage in the public battles as possible.

Bungie is still evaluating the frequency of the events and the rewards associated with them but wants to also keep them interesting from a narrative experience.

Destiny will be launched on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and current-gen consoles in 2014.
