The studio reveals that it might still appear in the future, after consoles

Bungie, the developer of the upcoming Destiny first-person shooter, has once again dismissed the existence of a PC edition of the multiplayer title, saying that right now it's focusing on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Destiny is one of the most ambitious all-new intellectual properties launching this year and Bungie, the studio mostly known for the Xbox-exclusive Halo series, is finally working with more platforms, including the PS3, PS4, or Xbox One, besides the Xbox 360.

Unfortunately for PC users, a Destiny version for their platform isn't going to appear anytime soon, as the studio has once again dismissed such a project, at least for now.

"The truth is it's not that simple," design lead Lars Bakken told Eurogamer. "I wish it was that simple. It's pretty complicated. That doesn't mean it can't happen in the future, it just means it won't happen right now."

"The console SKUs are really important for us and that's what we're focusing on," Bakken continued. "We're doing it all internally ourselves. That's a huge endeavor. That's not something we've ever done before. So when I'm playtesting and I'm trying to play PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, that's a lot of work. Adding another thing on there is just crazy. It's crazy to think of right now."

Bungie's Chief Operating Officer, Pete Parsons, also talked a bit about a potential PC edition, emphasizing that, while the Destiny team is big, it's not big enough to encompass another platform for the new shooter.

"I think four platforms on day one is a lot, considering we've been a one platform team for a very long time," he said. "What is also true is that, as you might imagine, we're all hardcore PC players. We play everything. It doesn't matter if it's a phone, PC or console, we play it. And there are 500 people up there. So we care a lot about the PC."

"But this is a huge and ambitious project for us, and just getting it on one console would be a momentous challenge. Getting it on four on the same day is something we've never even tried before. We wanted to get it right, and we didn't want to add in tons more risk."

While Bungie isn't admitting that a PC edition won't appear at all, it seems that the studio wants to release the game on consoles, make sure it's running well, and then start developing the multiplayer shooter for another major platform.

Destiny makes its debut on September 9 worldwide.
